Projects

Bellow you can check out the projects we have made to spread awareness of our company and the advice that we are providing.

Podcast

Business Card

I ran a 5 week long social media campaign on Twitter. I chose Twitter because fandom is very active and accessible on Twitter, thus its a good place to provide information on attending conventions for fans. Throughout my social media campaign I provided both information and advice on attending conventions. For my posts I focused on how to navigate events such as fan panels and cosplay competitions more effectively, advice on deciding where to go and how to prepare, and other information regarding opportunities at the convention.

Packing for a Fan ConventionAlly Andrews

For this project I used Audacity to create and edit a podcast. For the topic of my podcast I chose packing for fandom conventions as it is an important part of the process for preparing for fandom conventions and through the audio format I was able to discuss the packing essentials as well as interview my friend Arezou who is experienced in packing for conventions and include her audio responses in the podcast.

For this project I created an advertisement for my company in Canva.

In my advertisement

I developed contrast by having white text with a darker background + Lighter borders + Logo is bright over black square between that and the background. Also with my text I made sure that my text wasn’t all centered and I bolded certain things that should be focused on most.

I developed repetition through my color scheme consistent use of blue, purple, pink, orange (same for all projects), star designs lined up on both sides of the logo, and bolding of important text.

I developed alignment through the star designs being aligned with each other in positioning on both sides of the logo, the text on each side is aligned together, the logo is centered along with the first main point. Also the text on the left side is all starting from the right while the text on the left side is starting from the center of that side.

I developed proximity through having space at bottom and top - colors helped guide where space would be left. I also left space between points in text and made sure it was not all centered so it didn’t get too blocky and hard to read.

Business card for comm 350.png

For this project I created a business card using Adobe Photoshop. In this card I provided the details of how to contact my company in the bottom, the logo on the side, and the company name at the top. For my cad I worked to maintain the color scheme I developed with my logo. I tried to make the card more dynamic and visually appealing by putting the title on a slant in word spacing as well as having the colors change each line.

Magazine Cover

For this project I made a cover for a magazine for my company in Adobe InDesign. For this magazine cover I included photos to appeal to my audience of fans by showing both the coming together of fandom community as well as a way fandom can be expressed at the convention through cosplay.

I chose "Destination Fan" for the title of my magazine because I felt it both captured the fact that fans are traveling to a fan convention and that the magazine itself is a place that fans can go to for fandom related information (attending fan conventions).

I used contrast by having a white boxes behind the text so it wouldn't get lost/obscured by the images. I also made sure the text switched sides between the title, issue, and tag.

Brochure

For this project I made a Newsletter for my company in Adobe InDesign. For my Newsletter I used colors from my developed color scheme, used new learned InDesign elements such as text wrap around images and overlay over boxes. In my newsletter I included a contact box to provide my audience a chance to stay connected with my company if they wanted more convention advice or had questions they wanted to get into contact with us about.

I used alignment in making sure text was lined up.

Repetition was maintained in the color use - tied to color scheme.  Also in boxes with text over them with colors from the color scheme.

Newsletter

For this project I made a Brochure for my company in Adobe InDesign. For my brochure I utilized both the color scheme I had used in my other projects and gradients which is a prominent thing used throughout my website. I chose to name my brochure "Convention Prep in Your Pocket" because the brochure is preparing you for conventions and brochures are a suze where they can fit in your pocket.

For alignment I made sure text was lined up in relation to the other sections, I made sure the arrows and text boxes were aligned on the first panel, and I made sure the boxes on the second switched off for contrast while still being in alignment with the others that were on each side.

For contrast I had boxes swap sides on the second panel and made sure I had transitions between lighter and darker colors.

I used repetition in maintaining my color scheme throughout as well as introducing topics and then expanding on them within the brochure.

Book (2-page spread)

For this project I made a two page spread for our class book in Adobe InDesign. In this two page spread I discussed what I did in this class - mainly why I chose the topic I did, what I did for the social media campaign, and my though process going into the other projects. I made sure to implement my color scheme into it as well as include images from different things I did- social media, website image, and page from newsletter.
